Test yourself against others and become the King of Mountain (KoM) or Queen of Mountain (QoM) for the Sumas Hill Climb Challenge on the GranFondo route, sponsored by Ryders Eyewear. The hill climb is 1.8km long and has an average 7.7% grade.

The fastest male and female in each age category will receive a Ryders Eyewear prize pack worth $130.00.

Official Rules and Regulations

Only GranFondo riders are eligible to compete in the hill climb challenge.

The winners are determined by the fastest elapsed time between mats at the bottom and top of the hill as determined by the timing system. If the timing system does not capture a start and finish time for the hill climb segment, the rider is excluded from the competition.

The age categories are: U18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over.

The fastest overall male rider and fastest overall female rider, regardless of age category, will each be awarded the KoM and QoM title. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the first rider up the hill. If the riders are still tied, the winner will be decided by coin toss.

The winning riders will be announced as soon as possible after the results are in. This may occur on event day, but may be up to 24 hours later if confirmation of timing is required. The winning riders do not have to be present to win. The winners will be notified by phone and email. The winners will have 30 days to claim their prize. Prizes may be arranged to be claimed at the stage on event day. Prizes are awarded as is with no substitutions.
