PVGF Group Training Rides


 

Monday 6:00PM – Learn to Ride

  • For first-time road cyclists, male and female, with a focus on teaching rules of the road, how to ride in a group, basic mechanical education, nutrition, and training for London Drugs Ride for Hope PrestoFondo.
  • A no-drop ride, with frequent regroupings for teaching opportunities.
  • 1-1.5 hrs, 25-30km, expected cruising speed ~25km/h.

Tuesday 6:00PM – Women’s-only Ride

  • For female cyclists of varying experience, with a focus on practicing group-riding skills and training for the MedioFondo or GranFondo.
  • A no-drop ride, with frequent regroupings for teaching opportunities.
  • 1-1.5 hrs, 30-40km, expected cruising speed ~27km/h.

Wednesday 6:00PM – Advanced Group Ride

  • For experienced riders, who are expected to know the rules of the road, how to ride in a group, and are self-sufficient on the bike, with the ability to ride (and train for) and event like the MedioFondo or GranFondo.
  • A potential-drop ride, although there is a re-grouping at each significant climb.
  • 1-2 hrs, 30-50km, expected cruising speed ~30-35km.
  • On the last Wednesday of each month, we plan to attend the Mission Raceway Criterium Series, with the option of racing or spectating. Ask the folks at the shop for details.

Saturday 9:00AM – Endurance Group Ride A and B

There are two groups on Saturday mornings:

  • the A group follows the same standard as Wednesday nights, but for a longer distance, approximately 70-100 km. Map My Ride →
  • the B group gives the opportunity for Monday- and Tuesday-night riders to put in more distance, approximately 30-50km, geared toward participation in the London Drugs Ride for Hope PrestoFondo or MedioFondo. Map My Ride →
