Supporting Youth Cycling

The Prospera Valley GranFondo is proud to partner with these great youth cycling programs

The Prospera Valley GranFondo is operated by Canadian Velo Events Management Society, a non-profit society devoted to creating cycling events that are accessible within the Fraser Valley. Unlike other for-profit GranFondo experiences in BC, our focus is on providing the most accessible and enjoyable World Class rider experience.

As a non-profit society, we are committed to passing along proceeds to our youth in cycling charitable partners, Cycling BC’s “iRide” program, Devo and Bridge the Gap. Participants should enjoy knowing that their money is not only going to a fantastic experience but also helping to support these great initiatives within the Fraser Valley.

Welcome to DEVO, the youth-development team of Escape Velocity. DEVO stands for development and Escape Velocity. The goal of the program is to provide members of all cycling abilities with a full spectrum of rider education both on and off the bike.

Since its inception in 1999, DEVO has grown into one of Canada’s premiere youth development cycling programs. It has fostered athlete development from complete beginners up to national champions racing professionally. DEVO serves a fundamental role in rider education, providing a positive and fun team atmosphere for riders to develop not only bike skills and fitness, but also the mental skills and abilities to persevere through challenges, be part of a team, and realize both personal and team goals.

Pedal-Position-300x203The Prospera Valley GranFondo is proud to partner with Cycling BC and raise money for their youth in cycling program called iRide. The iRide program is always free for the kids, it increases their knowledge about bike safety and allows them to practice smart decision-making skills. Most of all, the iRide program inspires children and youth to develop their riding skills and increase their fitness level.

It is our hope to help kids at schools throughout the Fraser Valley take part in the iRide program to prepare the youth of today for a life of fitness and health and take part in great events like the Prospera Valley GranFondo.

Igniting the Next Generation of Cycling in Canada

The Global Relay Bridge the Gap Fund is a national cycling development program created by Global Relay in partnership with five of Canada’s top cyclists. The fund plays a key role in helping Canada’s talented young riders ‘bridge the gap’ from their junior to elite level, from the amateur to pro ranks, and from local to international racing.

The Prospera Valley Granfondo, #PVGF2017, the only not for profit event of its kind on the west coast has also become a supporting partner of the team. The Prospera Valley Granfondo mission is to promote healthy living while building strong community leaders. Cycling is the vehicle that realizes this objective. Now in its sixth year, proceeds from the event are given to youth cycling initiatives like Bridge the Gap, Cycling BC iRide Program, and DEVO Junior Cycling program. “The new Partnership with Smart Savvy+ Garneau U23 Cycling Team allows the event to support youth from the ages of 5 right up to 23, building a real future for the community,” states PVGF Event Director Marc Campbell.
